TOWNSEND (MD USA) - See all my reviews    Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?) I have had psoriasis for 25 years. As advertised this stuff is very easy to apply, does not appear to stain. It is not greasy. I did not have any complaints about smell from the family. I usually applied it just before going to bed. For me, it worked as well as most of the prescription creams I have used in the past. This is a little expensive, but then you do not need to pay for a doctor's visit to tell you that yes you still have psoriasis, so maybe the expense evens out. Most of the prescription creams require you to discontinue use after 2 to 4 weeks. Psorent has been clinically used for 12 weeks in the trials. I suspect you could use it for even longer durations. The basic ingredient seems to come from coal tar which is a traditional medicine used against psoriasis for almost 100 years now so it is not really a new fangled product. It seems they just isolated what they think in the coal tar is most effective and made it easier to use. I found the... The creams and ointments I got from my doctor didn't work as good as Psorent does. I would recommend this to everyone that has Psoriasis. The product is great though. Nothing has worked for me except steroids. I noticed an improvement the next day. After a week my skin was 90% clear. Psorent is expensive but it took a very long time to develop a coal tar product that was user friendly! Yes I am old enough to remember coal tar medications. I will warn you it does sting raw skin but so does other products like this. I have used other similar products but they don't work. Psorent has a higher % of coal tar than the others. She was able to sleep for the first time without Benadryl. After 12 hours of using the spray, the rash was finally going away and we noticed definite improvement. While pricey, the relief it gives is worth it. A little skeptical that this spray would manage to do what it claims... but it does work like a charm. The relief from itching is near instant when applied. After a few applications, the rash started to fade. The packaging gets three stars (booo) one roll off the counter and it cracked open leaving a rather expensive puddle on the floor. Maybe because it uses a sprayer the folks at Tecnu figured they could use a thin bottle? - bad idea. If you are going to stash this in your backpack, I'd highly recommend finding a thicker Nalgene travel bottle to put it in. Also allergic to steroids Drs want to use to treat. What to do? After battling six different episodes, I have discovered what works and what doesn't - for me at least. And TECHNU WORKS. The Scrubb is great to use as soon as you get inside. And the Lotion works on most clothes and tools - though you may have to treat twice. And this spray is very calming. It works best in the beginning stage of poison ivy I have found and I do believe this product line helped the poison ivy heal faster. Every summer, I get in contact with poison ivy and then my entire body reacts. I usually end up with one or sometimes two rounds of steroids just to keep my hives under control. Ever since I discovered Technu a few years back, I have managed to keep my reaction to a minimum. The instructions on the bottles tell you that you should wash ASAP. But I can vouch that it works *even after a day or two*! The trick is NOT to wash once and think it's done. Every time the itch returns, use Technu again. And when you do use it, you MUST use it along with soap. Technu seems to bond with the oil of poison ivy, but to completely remove the oil, you must first scrub with Technu (a thin coating of Technu on your skin is sufficient, but make sure you rub/scrub for a few minutes at least to get the stuff into the wrinkles and creases in your skin.) We've used this product for about 8 years. My daughter and husband are extremely sensitive to poison ivy, and this product seems to be the only thing that works to prevent an outbreak or reduce spreading. We keep it handy to use right after exposure (the best time to use it), although it also works well after the rash has started. The product apparently dissolves the oil that causes the rash, so the rash doesn't spread. Many times I have had to go to the doctor after coming into contact because I become so outbroken and swollen. We have neighbors that live behind us that have poison ivy growing in their back yard. For whatever reason they refuse to do anything about it. Any efforts from my side of the fence have been for naught. So now when I find it creeping up under the fence I just pull it. Then I treat with Tecnu. I haven't had any breakouts since I have been using Tecnu. I usually keep 2 bottles on hand to make sure I am not without.
